Trying to get Matthew a prosthetic has been a long battle
just like everything else. We started
working with Tom shortly after he had his operation. Tom was great and did all of the initial
appointments for free and even made a plastic mold that Matthew could take
home.
When he found out we were leaving for Argentina he
started working on making Matthew a complete prosthetic… He was tired of
Matthew having to wait for L&I to agree to take responsibility and decided
that Matthew needed to get a prosthetic before he left for Argentina.
Matthew had many appointments with him to correct the
sizing and make sure the measurements were perfect… well at least good enough
for a first draft. He was able to take
home the mold and practice on it for a couple days and then send it off for an official
copy… which he picked up yesterday.
There are still things that needed to be tweaked but he would have a
month in Argentina to practice and see what worked and what needed to be changed. How exciting it will be for Matthew to
finally have an arm a year and a half after he lost it originally..!
Practicing with the mold.
Josiah was going to be picked up by his nose...
They loved seeing his robo-arm
Holding his plate with his prosthetic... makes eating easier..!
The guys who worked on making it just perfect...
First time cutting his own meat in years...
