New Years Eve was also Oriana’s birthday, so the family came over to
celebrate at lunch. Since we had so many hamburgers left over from Soraya’s
birthday party, we made hamburgers again. A couple of her friends came over too and
enjoyed the afternoon in the pool. After
lunch I took a quick nap before we sang Happy Birthday and had cake for
Oriana.
We had our first goodbyes as it was the last time, we were going to be
seeing Oriana, Abril and Ana. It was
hard to believe that our time in Argentina was coming to an end. Before the party that night we had to make
sure all the bags were packed so we could get to bed. It didn’t take too long to pack and give Nona
everything we were going to leave behind.
We also started making plans for our time in Mexico since we were going
to have a 20-hour layover.
That evening it was a smaller group… only Diego came over to celebrate
with us and the Nonos and Tomas who was staying the night. We had a relaxing evening together visiting
and ringing in the New Year. Of course,
there was food (empanadas for Me) and fireworks. Pablo wanted everyone to do the 12-grape
countdown like they do in Spain, so we all crammed grapes into our mouth as
midnight approached. Of course, we had
to have ice cream one last time before leaving Argentina. We then headed to bed to get ready for our
early morning drive.
