Spending time with the Millars… and other Friends!

On Wednesday evening I got a message from Ruth asking if they could stay the night at our house on Friday evening.  Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to see them.  The last time they were in the area were not able to connect and then Covid-19 hit, and we missed out on seeing them altogether.

After making sure they were okay with seeing other people I invited Chris & Sarah and German and Mariah over for dinner on Friday evening so they could see them too.  Matthew cooked a delicious meal and Mariah brought Empanadas so we could have our Argentine fix.  We had so much fun visiting and catching up with them.

Since the original plan was for them to only stay one night, I invited Michelle over on Saturday morning (before she had to do Halloween activities with the kids).  I haven’t seen her in forever myself, so I had just as much fun catching up with her as Scott and Ruth did, I think.

Afterwards, Ruth and I decided to go for a walk.  We walked a couple miles on the Maple Valley trail… and talked.  It reminded me of the days in Catamarca when she mentored me… it was a much-needed time of fellowship for me.

I was very happy when the asked to stay another night… (The house they were going to stay at had a possible Covid-19 exposure and we only lived 30 minutes from the church anyways).  So, I had an evening to visit with Scott and Ruth just to myself… of course I helped Scott out with some computer issues (some things never change… I don’t know how many times I did this when we lived in Argentina together).  I would have to say one of my favorite moments together was praying on Saturday night before we went to bed.

Once again, their plans on Sunday ended up changing so they decided to hang out with us again… this time at German and Mariah’s house.  German prepared an Argentine asado and we ended up having a complete Argentine meal… desert and all.  We enjoyed the Seahawks game and fellowship.  I spent many games at the Millar’s house in Argentina since that was the only place I could find the game on TV.

It was the perfect weekend… God has blessed me with two amazing weekends in a row.  My weekdays may be busy… and the weekends may be full… but they have been so good and just what I needed.
