Fall Rally… Covered..!

Fall Rally was bittersweet this year for a couple reasons.  First off, it was the last official fall rally… they decided they have to change things up.  We aren’t getting the number of students that we used to get.  When I was part of the youth group we had 800+ students at both fall and spring rally.  Thankfully, we still plan on doing something to connect and interact with the other churches in the conference.

It was also bittersweet because of its location.  It was back in Bremerton… close to where we used to live.  In fact, my host home was down the street from where Matthew grew up.  It was hard to be surrounded by those memories and the pain that we experienced… to be so close to our son and yet not be able to see him.  But at the same time it was good… it was good to be able to serve the youth even through our difficulties.  To experience God’s love even as we mourned.

God has blessed us with an amazing group of youth.  I love to serve them… I love spending time with them… getting to know them… sharing my own heart with them and pointing them to the cross.  The topic at Rally this year was Covered… we were covered by the blood… we don’t have to rely on our own coverings but allow Him to completely cover us.

Rally is a time to get away from the daily routine… get to know each other better… play together… learn together and return home with stronger bonds that can be built upon throughout the year.  I love seeing the high school girls group grow… not only in numbers but in maturity.  I love spending time with these young adults.  My prayer is that God continues to work in their lives and uses me to disciple them so they can disciple others.
