Home Remodel...Part 2 – Master Bathroom!

I decided to do my updates based on each room so I could share the before and after pictures of the remodel.  I will try to do them by the order they were completed but they may be slightly out of order.

German decided to start on the master bathroom first, because he always wanted us to always have a bathroom available.  When he started tearing up the flooring, he realized that there was some water damage.  We put everything on hold for a couple days and brought out the insurance company to look into it.  Since it was deemed an old leak, they gave us a minimal amount of money to fix the flooring in both bathrooms.

Tearing it up and finding water damage...

Water damage under the floor led to the hall bathroom too..!

At this time, we decided to add to the renovation and completely remodel both bathrooms… my sister assisted me in finding a new vanity, mirror, and light for the master bathroom.  I then went shopping for matching accessories.  I decided to get easy clean toilets. When German installed the vanity, he noticed it was slightly damaged, so I was able to get a refund on the cost, which I used to buy more items from Lowes.

Let the full-on remodel begin...

We are those people with a toilet in the yard...

Love the new toilets that go straight down all the way to the ground...

Lots of texts with Kim to find the perfect vanity for the bathroom...

Vanity arrived and is ready to be installed...

Time to find matching accessories too...

Sink was slightly damaged... I took the refund!

German had already started the remodel when I came up with the idea to add verses to the floor in each room.  Since they were still in the middle of working on the bathroom, I was able to write multiple verse in the bathroom.  I would handpick each verse that I wanted for the room.  A lot of thought went into the verses, as I wanted them to be a blessing over our house.

Two different verses in the shower area...

German helped Matthew and I pick out the tile we wanted for the shower, and we decided that we wanted to extend the wall out a bit so that the shower was bigger.  We also added a corner bench so Matthew could sit down if he needed to. German even came up with the idea to add a grab bar for Matthew.  He then surprised me and added a niche to the shower. In the end, we were convinced to get new shower doors instead of reusing the ones from the old shower, and I am so glad we did.  So many times throughout the project we would say, “If were going to do it… we might as well do it how we want it now.”

Expanding the shower wall...

Time to paint the walls and ceiling...
need to protect the shower!

Time for the other side...

Patching the wall...
which they had to reopen to center the sink!
my bad... I thought German knew the sink location changed!

Installing the new vanity...

Lights and mirror...

Once the bathroom was “complete”, I was able to start organizing and decorating it how I wanted to. I went through all the items that were in our old bathroom and decided what I wanted to keep and what I wanted to get rid of.  I also bought new soap dispensers, toilet brush, garbage, baskets, etc. so that everything would match.  We had so many amazon boxes arrive throughout the remodel that we lost track of what was arriving each day.

Shower is complete and ready to use!

Ready to decorate and fill...

Time to install the door!

Amazon was my friend... and Hello Fresh of course!

The final stages...

So much to go through... what do I keep?

The last step in the process was to determine how I wanted to organize Matthew’s colostomy supplies.  I wanted them to be easily accessible to him, but to be stored in something much nicer than what we had before (the plastic storage container).  I found the perfect shelf online at Lowes and used the money I had from the damaged vanity to purchase it.  While Matthew was off buying his truck, I surprised him and put it together. Now the bathroom is complete and fully functional.  I love how it turned out.

Time for me to build... only took a few hours...

Organized and ready to go... mate and netflix got me throught it!

Complete... time organize the supplies!

I love how it turned out in the end!
