Celebrating Easter... with a Few Friends!

This year Easter looked a little different then it has in years past.  We didn’t celebrate it with my family like we usually do.  Keb had to work so they had their own Easter celebration at the house and Karen and Jimmy celebrated at home in precautions of Covid-19.  Knowing James works at a location that has had active cases they don’t want to chance spreading it to anyone; especially Matthew. 

Instead, we had a couple friends over… friends that we consider family.  We have been through a lot with this group… the good, the bad, and the ugly.  It was the perfect group to be with as we celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

I had fun with the Easter Eggs...

The weather was beautiful so were able to spend the majority of the time outside.  The food was absolutely delicious… as always when we get together.  The kids had a blast running around the property exploring.  I think it was the first time they came over that they could play outside… they even created a fort in the “woods” section of the yard.

After lunch we set up an area for them to dye Easter eggs.  Of course, they had a blast.  Then Matthew and German took them to the front yard while we hid the Easter eggs for them to find.  They were off and running to find the eggs (especially the 1 golden egg).  There was only a little drama over the egg hunt when we couldn’t find one of the eggs, but it was quickly resolved.  Hopefully one day, that lost egg will be found.  Sounds like an analogy from the Bible (or my wishful thinking that one day Shane will come home to us… Holidays are always a hard time).

We ended the day together eating dessert.  Sarah and Lilly made homemade Strawberry angel food cake and cool whip.  It was so good my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Las 3 Amigas...!

Everyone left just in time for me to jump on the computer for a zoom call with my family.  If nothing else, Covid-19 has helped us to connect as a family through zoom.  Having everyone spread out, we don’t see each other often enough but now we can connect and catch up more often.  I hope that long after Covid-19 is resolved that zoom calls with the family will continue on.
