Celebrating 7 Years of Marriage…!

Matthew and I decided to get away for a few days to celebrate our anniversary at the beach… Instead of going to Ocean Shores like we did on our honeymoon we went further down to Seaside and Cannon Beach.

We booked a room at the River Inn as Seaside with a balcony view of the river… and were pleasantly surprised to discover a gift for our anniversary when we walked in the room.

Loving our Balcony View

After unpacking we headed out to dinner… at a local Mexican restaurant.  The food was delicious and it was so much fun to be able to walk everywhere.  Of course, after dinner we took a stroll down boardwalk and ate some ice cream for dessert.  It was a peaceful night as we walked the promenade… and visited as we listened to the waves crash.  Of course, we took full advantage of the pool and hot tub back at the hotel.

Still loving the views from our hotel...

The next day, on our actual anniversary, we got up early to take full advantage of the day.  We headed to Cannon Beach and borrowed one of the beach wheelchairs.  I got a work out in the soft sand but once we got down near the water it was super easy to push.  This was one of the best parts of the trip as it had been years since Matthew and I had been able to go out to Haystack Rock and walk along the beach together.  We had a couple hours to just enjoy the beach before returning the chair and we took full advantage of the entire time.

I wasn't expecting the waves... and got a bit wet... :)

Everyone asked us about the chair... free to borrow..!

Our next destination was to head to Cannon Beach Conference Center to visit with Mikayla for a bit.  It was fun to catch up with her and hear about her time serving at camp.  She has a few more weeks before she comes home and prepares to head off to college.

Visiting Mikayla...

We continued south to Tillamook to take a tour of the new factory.  We had been there a couple years back when it was under construction so it was fun to go back and see the finished product… and of course enjoy some free samples.

My cheese addict...

We went out to dinner for our typical “anniversary dinner”.  Matthew had steak and I enjoyed seafood… we ended up buying dessert at Safeway and taking it back to the hotel room (Tillamook ice cream and peanut butter).

Anniversary Dinner... Yum

We quadrupled our money...

On our last day of the trip, I was able to check an item off my bucket list.  Every year we talk about doing the Helicopter tour… and this year we decided to finally do it.  Matthew let me sit up front so I can have a better view since he had been in a helicopter before.  We had a longer than normal flight (about 30 minutes) where we enjoyed the sites of Seaside and Cannon Beach.  The pilot had been flying since he was 15 and had lots of great stories to share with us.

Free eclairs for breakfast... yum
