Our second camping trip
this summer was with my family or at least part of the family. Jimmy and Karen went up on Thursday evening
with their kids and then Matthew and I headed up on Friday morning. Unfortunately on the way up our truck started
giving us troubles. Matthew was able to
change some of the spark plugs and we kept on going. My parents came up later on that same day
with my nieces.
The days were filled with
playing in the river, taking walks and visiting with Karen, exploring with the
children, eating yummy food, working on the truck, and relaxing.
Sitting around visiting...
Matthew ready to enjoy the water...
Thankfully Josiah found his glasses after he lost them in the river..!

The weather was absolutely
beautiful and the company was even better.
The only bummer about the whole weekend was that there was a fire ban so
we couldn't have a camp fire in the evenings so we made do and just sat outside
my parent’s motor home and visited after the kids went to bed... or while they watched a movie.
Kids were exhausted after two full days..!
More adult time.. just missing a fire... but at least we had smores..!
Matthew of course knowing
everyone started talking to some of the other campers and forest rangers and
was able to make some connections. One
of the guy worked at the Union Gospel Mission where we used to serve meals
together when we were in Junior High. He
invited us down there for a tour the following week.
All in all it was a great
trip… but not empty of trials. I don’t
think we can do anything these days without a trial. We have learned that it is just a way of life
for us… and try to cope with the punches thrown our way.
On the way home our truck
died completely… thankfully we left before my parents so they were able to pick
Shane and me up and tow our tent trailer behind the motor home… after my Dad
got home he picked up his truck and a trailer from a friend from church and
went back for Matthew and the truck. We didn't end up getting home until after 9:00 pm exhausted and frustrated. We found out the next day that the motor was
blown…
Riding home in the motor home...
Can you tell they were tired..?
Towing the tent trailer...
Towing the truck..!
What an Adventure..!
