Birthday Celebrations… All Weekend Long… Plus Easter!!!

Last year was the first (and only) time I ever had to work on my birthday.  Once again, it fell on Spring Break this year, so we celebrated at work the day before.  Of course, I get to share my birthday with other co-workers and this time with a couple students that have a birthday over the break.  It was so much fun watching one of the students’ face light up as we invited him into our room for the party, sang happy birthday and gave him a slice of cake.  I am so blessed with staff members who went out of their way to make me feel special and spoil me with a dozen cards, pizza and brownies, and a wonderful last day before Spring Break.  On the drive home, I was able to call some of my friends in Argentina and wish Zoe a happy birthday.

Overall, my birthday was relaxing. I started the day off with mate and reading my Bible.  It was the perfect way to start my birthday and my Spring Break.  Of course, since the next day was Easter, I also had to do a little last-minute shopping and preparing for Easter.  Kim and Keb were not going to make it for Easter, so they invited Matthew and I out to dinner for my birthday at The Rock.  It was my first time going and the food was delicious.  We got an update on the house they are having built in Texas which is going to be done sooner than expected.

Sunday was Easter, so Matthew and I decided to watch the service at home.  I have been praying for those who don’t know Jesus and will come to know Him during this season of life. My heart is especially drawn to the people He has placed in my life.  I am trying to obey when I feel He is calling me to pray for someone in particular or reach out in love in one way or another. I don’t do it perfectly, but it is an area I am working on currently. I don’t want someone to die not having a relationship with Jesus if I could have been the one to plant a seed in their life.

My family was not able to join us for Easter this year for one reason or another, but we were able to celebrate with Chris and Sarah… who are pretty much family.  We had the extra blessing of Tracey joining us at the last minute.  It was a very simple time of fellowship, enjoying a meal and an Easter egg hunt for the kids (although us adults had just as much fun hiding the eggs as the kids did looking for them).  All the eggs were accounted for in the end, so it was a successful day in my books.
