June… Finishing up the School Year!

June was an insanely busy month… work was crazy between meetings, closing out IEPs, graduation activities, packing up the classroom, and trying to get things ready for when we returned in the fall.  Five out of six of my graduates had a job by the time they graduated, the only one that didn’t have a job opted out of job coach services during Covid.  Considering I work with the students with the most significant disabilities and a few years back none of my students were graduating with jobs this is a huge success. I work with a amazing job coaches and paras that help me prepare these students for success after school.  We were all excited to have in-person graduation again and the students did amazing… it was so fun to see their personalities shine through during graduation.  I will miss my students as they move on to the next stage of life, but I am excited for where they are going.  It was fun to be able to celebrate one of them at their house after they graduated though. We ended the school year with a party at Andy’s house.  Matthew joined me for part of the party… it was fun to be able to relax and just enjoy visiting with staff without the stress of work.

Packing up my classroom...

This year Josiah graduated from high school (and with his AA) so we were able to celebrate this special occasion with a party at his house.  It was a lot of fun seeing everyone after so long since we no longer go to Faith there are a lot of people that I don’t see on a regular basis anymore. This was an exciting year for the family as James and Maggie also graduated from college (just in time to get married in July) and we found out in May that Abby was pregnant.  We are definitely blessed.

He is so talented...

My parents came home earlier than usual so we have been able to spend more time with them this summer.  They did spend a couple weeks helping my sister and Keb build a shed but other than they have been staying in our driveway.  Of course, their claim that they were not going to do any more yardwork did not hold up but that will be its own blog later on…!

My favorite part about summer, besides the beautiful weather, is the extra time I have to spend doing my quiet times in the morning.  Even better is being able to do them outside in the sun… and the beauty of God’s creation!

Quiet time outside...
