Matthew and I have
been going to Spokane for my Spring Break for the last four years. We stay at my relatives and have a relaxing
time. This trip I was super busy with
homework but took time off to visit with all of my cousins and their
children. We had a great time visiting
with family and just relaxing. Of course,
I also took time to go visit my grandma.
She is 91 years old and declining… I never know when it will be the last
time I get to see her so I make sure to visit every time I am in the area.
Matthew knows I LOVE pictures and takes time to stop for me..!

One of my favorite
things about coming to Spokane is sitting on the back deck and doing my Bible
study. This year was a little colder
than usual so I bundled up with my coat and blanket and made myself
comfortable.
I
did a mixture of Bible studies but the main topic that impacted me in both
studies was in regards to surrendering my plans for those of God. Here is a quote from one of the books that
touched me.
Quote from Good to Great in God’s Eyes by Chip Ingram -
“Genuine discipleship means you go to the cross and you die.
Not sort of die, not die to 90% of your agenda, but completely die. You say, ‘Lord, it’s not my money, my time,
my dreams, my family, my career… it’s all yours.’ You lay it all on the altar,
no matter how scary that is, because God is good and generous and will give
back whatever He wants you to have.”
I still have a lot to
learn about surrender… or better yet… a lot I need to apply. I was impacted this week about my
tongue. I need to surrender what I say
to God…. I don’t want to be known as someone who talks negatively about
others. I caught myself falling into
this trip. My prayer is that God will take control of this area of my life and
change me from the inside out. Lord,
convict me of this sin whenever I start ‘gossiping’ or talking negatively about
others. Don’t let any unwholesome talk
come out of my mouth… change my words so that they are always encouraging and
loving.
Another area that I
am not giving God control of lately is my time.
I am so “busy” with school and work that I don’t give God the time that
He deserves every day. My bible study
has become a “habit” … a last-minute thought… an item on my to-do-list. Lord, forgive me for putting you on the back
burner. I don’t know why I do this… as I
LOVE my quiet times… and feel so refreshed when I spend time with the
Lord. My prayer is that I will commit
quality time each day to spend with the Lord and keep Him as my focus
throughout the day.
All set up with worship music, tea, and my Bible Study..!
A beautiful view while I spend time with God..!
A reminder of the cross as we celebrate Easter tomorrow..!
