Throughout the week we were blessed by the church with food for
various meals… but for the most part I was in charge of making sure there was
breakfast, lunch and snacks in the evening.
This is not usually my forte so I made sure to get food that didn’t take
much preparation… or I found someone to be in charge of the cooking (thanks
Weston and Fuego for some good breakfasts).
There was also a team of youth that were constantly surrounding me and
asking what they could do to help set up or clean up after meals. What servants hearts they had…

Tuesday began the process of renovating the high school room… a
project that took a team of members all days for hours and days on end… but we
also saw how serving together in different areas of ministry really bonded the
group as a whole. Just like anywhere you
go there can either be division of groups or a unified team… I wasn’t so sure
how this team would play out… but I really saw God bond the team closer
together. Does that mean that everything
went perfectly and there was no conflict?
NO… drama is part of the package of sleeping and living together in such
close quarters… but through lots of prayer God broke down some of the barriers
and allowed a team to form and work together.
I know that God is not done doing His work in our lives… but he did
allow us to complete the high school room in time.

Wednesday we had the opportunity to go to Camp Bighorn in the
morning for more team building activities.
We divided up into our family groups and did separate activities. There were four different activities we got
to participate in. One team got to do
the ropes course while the others were on the water. My team did paddle boarding on the river,
another group did kayaking down the rapids and the last group had to build
their own raft and float it down the water.
Some of the groups were challenged more than others but our group had to
make it more challenging on themselves by doing tricks and what not… for the
most part it was relaxing and enjoyable.

In the evenings we had VBS as usual so we had to be ready to go
as soon as it started each day. Even with all the activities the team was full-on ready to serve these students… even
the more challenging students. Since I
was going from group to group I had the opportunity to encourage the youth and
help out as needed. I saw lots of little
faces but didn’t get to know them very well.
The kids had a blast very day and the youth were energized by them.
In the evenings it took awhile to get them to calm down. My favorite part was getting together in our
family groups and sharing what God had been teaching us or how he had been
challenging us. We then took the
opportunity to pray for each other as a team.
