Matthew and I have both loved
working with the youth. We moved up to the high school group with Shane this
year… though we still enjoy the Junior High group on Sunday evenings. One of my favorite parts is interacting with the
youth. We are in charge of greeting the
youth as they arrive each week… and of course we stay until the end so that
there is a female leader around until all the girls go home. It makes for a long day on Sunday but well
worth it. Shane has been enjoying the
extra time of shooting hoops or passing the football around… or even helping
clean up at the end of the night.
One of the activities that the
youth loved the most was Spy Night… of course it may have had something to do
with the challenge Matthew gave them. He
told them that if they brought 3 new friends they could shave his head and with
5 friends they could shave his beard (which is what I was rooting for). Although not one person was able to bring 5
of their own friends one of the girls made out fliers to pass out to people at
school and together they brought more than 5 new people… so we decided they
deserved the right to shave him… besides he needed a hair cut anyways..!
I look forward to continuing to
serve the youth in the years to come as we get to know them better and can
speak more into their lives. It is a
great group of teenagers who love God and enjoy spending time together..!
