Jimmy and Karen’s family arrived early
in the morning on Thursday because of the flight delay we were all asleep. Jeremy
ended up going to the airport to pick them up since the car rental shop was
closed. Karen and Jimmy came over to Kim’s, but all the kids crashed at Jeremy
and Maria’s house. James and Maggie went over to her sister Sophie’s house of
course.
The morning was a time to relax. Karen
was only able to stay for a short time since she was meeting Aliya, the Currey
ladies, and Abby & Crew up in Oklahoma to work on finishing details for the
wedding. So, after breakfast, Jimmy and her drove back to Dallas to pick up the
rental so she could continue on her way. It was fun to have a little bit of
time to visit with her before she headed out. She also got to tour the Berry
Retreat house.
Kim planned a pool party at her house on Thursday since most of the family was going to be in town. It didn’t officially start until the evening but throughout the day, various family members were in and out of the house. There were lots of games of pool played, naps taken, swimming throughout the day, food eaten, and lots of visiting. We have not all been together since my sister got married in 2020, so it was so much fun watching everyone interact.
Keb was able to get the day off and enjoy the time with the family. Of course, he also manned the barbeque for dinner. James and Maggie came over with Sophie and her family. I was finally able to meet her adorable son, Dakota. We were able to celebrate both Sophie and Keb’s birthdays as a family. The pool party actually took place on Sophie’s birthday and Keb’s was the following week.
As the party was slowing down, James decided to add a little adventure to the trip and dive headfirst into the shallow end. He didn’t realize he was so close to the shallow end and thankfully it was at the incline but there was definitely a trip to the emergency room that happened, and he had a lovely gash in his head for the upcoming wedding. Of course, no one let Aliya know until after we knew James was going to be okay. Lots of joking took place after the fact, but until we knew he was safe… there were lots of prayers going up on his behalf. God is good though and now we can look back on it for years to come.
Friday morning, Amanda and Elizabeth finally arrived, and Jimmy and the rest of the crew headed up to Oklahoma to be there in time for the rehearsal dinner. We had one more day at Kim and Keb’s house before the rest of us headed up. The trip was quickly coming to an end. It was just the right mix of relaxation, time with family, and fun activities.
